Longjing is one of China's top ten teas and is considered the best by those devoted to green tea. Grown originally in the Longjing mountain area of Hangzhou, southwest of the West Lake, Longjing has a history that began 1200 years ago. The flat and smooth tea leaves (resembling pine needles with a light to dark green color) brew a tea with dark green color, a subtle fragrant scent, and a refreshing taste.
This batch is certified "pre-Qing Ming" tea, which requires it to be produced from the very tender first spring shoots prior to the 5th of April each year. pre-Qing Ming Long Jing teas offer a subtler and grassier high-quality finish than mainstream Long Jings.
We consider this to be among our favorites, therefore, for someone not accustomed to the subtleties and unique tastes of green teas, this longjing offers a fantastic place to start.
