Host to nearly as many legendary health benefits as legendary stories, Wuyi mountain teas take fine and exotic to the next level. They offer a range of deep and rich tastes further complicated by the long list of varieties totaling nearly 800 teas.
Wuyi Mountain region is located in the southern province of Fujian and consists of 72 mountains that are famous for their rocky vertical scales, made even more mythical by the wild tea trees grown near the peaks. Due to our very close connection to this area we are proud to be able to offer a genuine and extensive collection of some of China's rarest and most famous teas.
The Sampler includes:
25g of First-Grade Da Hong Pao
This first-grade Da Hong Pao is the best we were able to acquire. It is something we love, but are afraid to indulge in too often. Those who want the best will only want our first-grade Da Hong Pao in their collection.
25g of Rou Gui
Long lasting cups of this strong, full-bodied tea are both stimulating and refreshing. This Wu Yi Mountain rock wulong is named Rou Gui or ‘cassia bark’ because the tea’s famous fragrance has some similarities to the cassia tree’s spicy bark; an east-Asian derivative of cinnamon.
25g of Qidan
This Qidan variety is equal in grade and quality to our finest Da Hong Pao. However, in taste, it is considered a 'fragrant' tea (Qing-xiang), as opposed to many of our other top grade Wu Yi teas which are referred to as 'deep-fired' (Zu-huo).
25g of Xiao Hong Pao
Xiao Hong Pao, literally 'Small red robe' or 'Small red cape' is close cousin of the extremely famous Da Hong Pao; one of the four main Wuyi teas (Si Da Ming Cong).
25g of Bai Sui Xiang
Bai Sui Xiang is an exceptionally high-grade Wuyi mountain oolong that stands out from many in the area. Literally meaning '100 year fragrance', Bai Sui Xiang's incredibly sweet amber-green liquid has a great depth that reveals itself throughout many many infusions.
