Newest Autumn selection from Xi Ping, one of the four famous areas within the Anxi region of Fujian province. This area's high grade teas are well known for a certain lightness and quality.
This premium Autumn tea is much richer than most Tie Guan Yin teas and produces a fine liquor with a very light emerald colour and a taste that follows all the way to the back of your tongue. The Guan Yin King essence is reproduced infusion after infusion especially when brewed gongfu style.
The highlight of most Xi Ping Anxi pickings is the unique sweetness that develops in the floral undertones of the tea. This autumn picking demonstrates a particular well-rounded character trait common only in the highest grades. The subtle differences between regions becomes blurred in a tea that seems to reproduce the highlights of several regions all at once. A trained tea connoisseur will still have trouble determining the source of such a fine tea.
We consider this to be among our favorites. Therefore, for someone unsure of which Oolong or Tie Guan Yin to try, this tea offers a fantastic (though spoiled) place to start. With such a high quality Tie Guan Yin, a small brewing vessel with very hot water and the right proportion of leaves becomes very important.
