Dancong Oolongs refer to the actual Dancong tea leaf species, which is one type of leaf native to Wuyi Mountains. Long ago the Dancong varietal was brought to the Chaozhou area of Guangdong province and fully developed into a spectacular tea worthy of the tea connoisseurs' best recognition. The Chaozhou dancong, famously referred to as Feng Huang Dancong, is consumed all over the area surrounding Chouzhou city, but usually shows up in a much simpler and darker form. The locals love drinking an intensely floral and somewhat bitter-strong infusion, nearly always made gongfu-style. The Dancong varieties offered here are quite a bit higher quality and more prized than the usual everyday Feng Huang Dancong pickings.
